He suffered \u201clife-threatening injuries\u201d in the Monday night incident, police said.<\/p>\n<figure aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-171299\" data-style=\"width: 1200px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-171299\" src=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/manchesternhpolice1.jpg?x38396\" alt=\"Injuries were described as life-threatening\" width=\"1200\" height=\"620\" title=\"\"><figcaption class=\"text-description\">A Manchester, N.H. police SUV shown here. (Image: <em>Boston Globe<\/em>)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>At about 9:15 pm, multiple shots were fired during the altercation. The wounded man was transported to Elliot Hospital for treatment. It is an acute care hospital in Manchester. Details on his condition were not immediately available from the hospital on Wednesday. His name was not released by police.<\/p>\n<p>During a search of the crime scene, police said they located a firearm and several spent casings.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cThe incident did not interrupt operations and did not involve the property itself,\u201d<\/strong> Stephen Miraglia, a DraftKings spokesman, told <em>Casino.org<\/em> on Tuesday. He referred additional questions to Manchester police.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Earlier_Incident_at_Sportsbook\"><\/span>Earlier Incident at Sportsbook<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>In February, a gun-associated threat took place at the sports betting location, according to the <em>New Hampshire Union Leader<\/em> newspaper. It is unclear if the two incidents are connected.<\/p>\n<p>In the Feb. 23 incident, Samuel Paulino, 22, allegedly aimed a firearm at a patron. He also allegedly threatened to shoot the man, identified as Keagan Hall, 21, if he didn\u2019t get into a car, the newspaper reported based on police statements.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Faced with the danger, Hall made his way back inside the sportsbook. A fight ensued involving four suspects.\u00a0Eventually, the four people left and then drove away in two cars.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In connection with the incident, Paulino later was arrested for criminal threatening with a firearm, the <em>Union Leader<\/em> said. He was ordered to be jailed on preventive detention, the newspaper said.<\/p>\n<p>On April 5, a judge released Paulino under an agreement worked out by a local prosecutor and Paulino\u2019s attorney. On May 5, Paulino will appear in court for a change of plea and sentencing.<\/p>\n<p>Hall knew Paulino from when they were in middle school together, the report adds. Apparently, Hall\u2019s ex-girlfriend was dating one of the four suspects.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"DraftKings_Increasing_Presence_in_New_Hampshire\"><\/span>DraftKings\u2019 Increasing Presence in New Hampshire<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The Manchester DraftKings Sportsbook opened in September months after New Hampshire legalized sports betting. New Hampshire became the 14th state to launch legal sports betting in December of 2019.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DraftKings earned the right to be the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/news\/draftkings-opens-first-new-hampshire-retail-sportsbook\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">exclusive online sports betting operator<\/a> in the state in exchange for the state retaining 51 percent of all revenue generated. The state also keeps 50 percent of all revenue from retail locations.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In January, new legislation in New Hampshire sought to amend the state\u2019s regulations on sports betting to expand the budding market. The bill, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/news\/new-hampshire-sports-betting-bill-seeks-to-expand-market\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">HB 330<\/a>, would allow retail sportsbooks to take in-play bets.<\/p>\n<p>It also would eliminate a cap on the number of retail sports betting locations. The current law limits the number of locations to 10.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, in-game wagering is available on the internet. But it\u2019s not at the state\u2019s current two retail sportsbooks.<\/p>\n<p>Two charitable casinos in New Hampshire \u2014 The Brook in Seabrook and Filotimo Casino &#038; Restaurant in Manchester \u2014 both incorporated DraftKings sportsbooks.
