(Image:<em> Sports Illustrated<\/em>)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p class=\"NewNormal\">The first <em>SI<\/em> Sportsbook is expected to launch in Colorado in the coming months, according to a statement from the magazine, owned by Authentic Brands Group.<\/p>\n<p class=\"NewNormal\"><strong>In addition, <i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/news\/sports-ilustrated-is-looking-for-a-parnter-for-si-bets\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sports Illustrated<\/a> <\/i>will also begin thorough coverage of the sports betting space. That reporting, according to the release, will provide analysis and other resources to give detailed information to veteran and beginning bettors.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"NewNormal\">There will also be a special gambling-themed edition of the magazine printed in August.<\/p>\n<p class=\"NewNormal\">Earlier Wednesday, <i>Bloomberg<\/i> reported that the deal would run for 20 years. Authentic Brands Group would receive a licensing fee from 888 for the use of the <em>Sports Illustrated<\/em> brand. Authentic Brands would also receive a roughly 5 percent stake in 888\u2019s US operations, with the potential for that stake to grow.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"NewNormal\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Who_is_888\"><\/span>Who is 888?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p class=\"NewNormal\">In the US, 888 currently operates an online sportsbook and casino in New Jersey under its own brand. It also provides the technology platform for WSOP.com.<\/p>\n<p class=\"NewNormal\">Now it\u2019s found another partner mainly for sports betting.<\/p>\n<p class=\"NewNormal\">\u201cWe are excited about the potential to deliver our cutting-edge, proprietary sportsbook platform into the market, providing Sports Illustrated fans with a first-class betting and gaming experience,\u201d 888 CEO Itai Pazner said in the statement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"NewNormal\"><strong>Last year, the company announced it had secured market access in Colorado, Indiana, and Iowa. At that time, Yaniv Sherman told <em>Casino.org<\/em> that the company could launch in Indiana sometime in 2021.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"NewNormal\">It\u2019s unclear if 888 will look to launch <em>SI<\/em>-themed sportsbook apps in Indiana and Iowa in lieu of its own brand. An email seeking comment sent early Thursday morning ET was not returned.<\/p>\n<div class=\"callout\">\n<p class=\"NewNormal\"><em>Sports Illustrated<\/em> and 888 had been rumored as possible partners for months, and<em> SI<\/em> reportedly isn\u2019t the only target for the gaming company. Another rumored acquisition target is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.casino.org\/news\/888-could-win-big-if-it-acquires-william-hill-assets-says-analyst\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">William Hill\u2019s sportsbook operations in Europe<\/a>. Those went on the market shortly after Caesars Entertainment closed on its acquisition of the sportsbook operator.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"NewNormal\">Caesars and 888 have an existing relationship, as 888 operates in New Jersey as mobile skins for Caesars.
